In the final series of the season the only thing Atlanta
could play was spoiler. They did as the took 2 of 3 games in an
exciting series; 7-5 12 inning win in the first game, a close Houston
win in game 2 6-5 and an Atlanta 5-2 season finale win.
In Game 1, which lasted 12 innings Claudell Washington went 4-6 with 2 RBI's and a HR., which was a 2 run walk off job.
Game 2 saw the Braves left for dead, but not buried as the rallied for 3 in the bottom of the 9th only to come up 1 run short. Nolan Ryan (3-2, 2.59) got the win and Dave Smith put out the fire.
The rubber match saw Dale Murphy (3-4) blasted 2 homers to pace the Braves to a 5-2 win. With his big day Murph took his season average above the .300 mark to .301. Len Barker (2-3, 4.11) got the win and Bedrock got his 8th save.
